Vestibular neuritis: dizziness, nystagmus & loss of balance!

The suffix -itis always stands for inflammation in medicine – in this case, the vestibular nerve, i.e., your balance nerve, is inflamed and falls out acutely!

What this Nerve loss triggers in the body:

👉 Interrupted data conduction: The inner ear can no longer send information to the brain. The result: The brain completely loses the sense of balance – those affected immediately fall over when they try to sit down!

👉 Link to the eyes: Your optic nerves are directly connected to the eye muscles to stabilize the vision during movement.

👉 Muscular imbalance & nystagmus: If one side is affected, there is an imbalance in the eye muscles. The eyes begin to move involuntarily and strike (nystagmus).

👉 The rotating image: It is precisely this nystagmus that causes people affected to have the feeling that the entire environment rotates continuously in their eyes when they are open!
