Vestibular migraine: Typical symptoms?

When dizziness attacks suddenly occur and every slightest movement becomes a torment, there is often a vestibular migraine (Dizziness-migraine) behind that.

The typical characteristics and symptoms in summary:

  • Key symptom: dizziness attacks: The attacks last between 30 minutes, several hours, or even 1 to 3 days – the frequency varies greatly from patient to patient.
  • Headaches are not a must: A slight pressure on the head is quite enough – around a third of those affected have no classic headaches at all during the attack!
  • Extreme sensitivity to stimuli: A pronounced sensitivity to light, noise, and odors forces many people to retreat into a dark, quiet room without moving.
  • Increased motion: Even the slightest head movements, bending over, or turning cause a massive increase in dizziness – often accompanied by nausea and vomiting.
