Psychotherapy and/or antidepressants?
In PPPD (persistent postural-perceptual dizziness) is an interdisciplinary treatment approach. Because one gets stuck in the vicious cycle of dizziness anxiety, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is one of the most effective therapeutic approaches.
But how do you find therapy places when the waiting lists are long?
👉 Training institutions: Universities and institutes for psychotherapy regularly seek out female volunteers and patients for their training candidates – this way you can often get places much more quickly!
👉 Specialized rehabilitation clinics: Psychosomatic specialist clinics often offer excellent intensive programs for patients with chronic dizziness and pain.
And what does it have to do with antidepressants?
👉 Some patients report that the dizziness during sports (such as badminton) disappears briefly. The reason: The brain is distracted and the fear focus is interrupted!
👉 Medications (such as antidepressants) are also used to break through this exact fear cycle in the nervous system.
In this video, I explain how to find treatment spots and why distraction shows the brain that it can regain control!
