Important: The <a href=\"https:\/\/ivrt.de\/en\/dizziness-disorders\/diagnostic-tests-for-balance-disorders\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"8955\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Storage diagnostics <\/a>was performed regardless of whether dizziness had been reported previously.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Almost every second person examined had BPLS<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In <strong>49 out of 109 female patients<\/strong> a BPLS was diagnosed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This corresponds to <strong>45 %<\/strong> the sample of rehabilitation services examined.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The most commonly affected were:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>posterior groin: <strong>65,3 %<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>horizontal longitudinal flow: <strong>22,4 %<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>several passages: <strong>12,2 %<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Many had not previously reported any dizziness.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Especially interesting: Only <strong>19 of the 49 BPLS patients<\/strong> had reported dizziness before the examination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Another 13 noticed symptoms only during the storage inspection. Nine showed typical storage nystagmus, but did not report any subjective vertigo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This shows: <strong>BPLS can be present after a head injury, even if typical dizziness symptoms are absent in the history.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Treatment is usually successful<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The repositioning maneuvers were successful <strong>95,9 %<\/strong> the affected person successfully.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In <strong>73,5 %<\/strong> One treatment session was enough.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>What does this mean for practical application?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The results suggest that after a head injury, one should not rely solely on the history of dizziness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Especially in inpatient rehabilitation, systematic storage diagnostics can help identify treatable BPLS cases that might otherwise be overlooked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Important<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <strong>45 % do not apply to all people after a head injury<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A selected population was studied in a stationary neurological rehabilitation program. Others showed typical eye movements for BPLS without experiencing any significant dizziness themselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The good news<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">BPLS is often very well treatable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the study, repotitioning maneuvers were performed <strong>95,9 %<\/strong> The patient was successfully treated.
